Hello and welcome to Love St Agnes.
My name is Ben Jackson and I created this website.

I’m a web-designer by trade (I run a company called “Look Up!”). But also, I’m a trustee at the St Agnes Miners & Mechanics’ Institute and for the past few years I’ve been involved in organising and publicising events there.
Way back in December 2022 I saw a need for a “Community Events Calendar” and I spent a few evenings hacking together a prototype online calendar. I wasn’t sure whether it was something people would be interested in but I posted the link on the Helping Hands Facebook page…
I was very surprised by how positive the response was.

Unfortunately though, since the website was something I knocked together quickly, it was, from a technical perspective, held together with sticky tape and, though functional, not really fit for purpose and I took the site down with a mind to building it properly and turning it into a proper community resource.
Well, I’m happy to say that now (3 years later – sorry for the wait!) I’m finally ready to launch “Love St Agnes“.
But I’ve decided to expand the scope of the website too. Now the site features:
Most of the content on this site, is generated by you, the users. If you would like to contribute to this site in any way, be it news from your organisation, your event, or adding your group / business / club, please get involved. I’ve tried to make the site as user friendly as possible but if there are any issues, please reach out to me at ben@lovestagnes.com .
Here are some handy links:
Add an event
Add a business listing
Add your club / group (coming soon)
I’m actually turning the site into a side-business for me. I’m running the site on a “freemium” model. i.e. It’s all free to use and post, but if you want to get premium features, such as the ability to post multiple events (useful for people with regular classes, or venues with many events), or if you want a “priority business listing” in the directory, or you want to feature in our mailing list emails, then you can pay £50 per year to do so. I’m not looking to make a fortune with this site 🙂 but running it does incur costs, which I’d like to cover, as well covering as the considerable time I’ve spent building it.
I have lots of plans for where the future of Love St Agnes could lead to:
… to name a few, but I will save that for another day.
